Behind lessor Azorra’s decision to part-out four A220s

Azorra, a leasing company, initiated the dismantling of four Airbus A220 aircraft last year due to an industrywide parts shortage and Delta Air Lines' specific demand for components. This strategic move was driven by economic considerations, allowing Azorra to capitalize on being among the initial companies to part-out these jets for spare parts. The decision garnered attention because it involved relatively young A220s. Azorra’s president stated that the company realized benefits from acting swiftly in this process. Consequently, the lessor maximized value recovery through controlled disassembly rather than attempting to maintain or repair the airframes.
