Wizz Air falls to first-quarter loss after fuel costs hit

Wizz Air reported an operating loss of €183.3 million for the three months ending June 2026, primarily due to a significant increase in fuel expenses. Fuel costs rose by 39% during this period, impacting the airline’s financial performance substantially. Despite these challenges, Wizz Air demonstrated positive growth in passenger numbers, increasing them by a quarter between April and June. The Central European budget carrier recorded revenues of €1.5 billion for the first quarter. This revenue figure represents a 6% rise compared to the previous quarter's earnings.
