What's next for Roman Space Telescope? Here's how NASA's flagship observatory will open up the universe

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope successfully launched aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket on August 14, 2023, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Following launch, the telescope is currently entering its commissioning phase which is expected to last approximately six months. During this period, engineers and scientists will meticulously test all of the spacecraft’s systems and instruments. This crucial process ensures optimal performance as the telescope begins its groundbreaking observations. The primary goal of Roman is to map dark matter throughout the universe by taking wide-field images.
