Vueling’s first 737 Max deliveries delayed by seat-certification issue

Vueling, a Barcelona-based IAG carrier, was originally slated to receive its initial three Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft before the end of 2023. The delivery timeline has shifted due to an unforeseen delay concerning the certification process for the aircraft's seats. Specifically, the problem relates to Recaro-supplied seating components onboard the new jets. This certification setback is anticipated to impact Vueling’s ability to take possession of the first Max planes this year. IAG currently anticipates further delays as it works through the seat certification issue with Boeing and its suppliers.
