Swiss weather intelligence firm Meteomatics unveils new high-altitude drone

Meteomatics, a Swiss meteorological firm, officially launched its innovative Strato drone on October 8, 2026. This newly developed drone is designed for high-altitude operations and specializes in providing detailed atmospheric data. The Strato drone will operate at altitudes exceeding 6,000 meters (19,685 feet), offering significantly improved weather insights compared to traditional methods. Initial deployments of the drone are planned for Switzerland, with potential expansion into other European locations following successful testing. Meteomatics anticipates that this technology will enhance their existing forecasting capabilities and benefit various sectors reliant on accurate weather information.
