Qantas Plans Nonstop New York-Sydney Service in 2028

Qantas Airways has officially announced plans to launch a nonstop passenger service between New York and Sydney, slated to commence operations in 2028. This ambitious undertaking will represent Qantas’s second implementation of their ‘Project Sunrise’ strategy, following the initial Dubai-to-Sydney route. The new route will utilize the airline's state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000ULR (Ultra Long Range) aircraft specifically designed for these extended flights. Qantas anticipates this service will significantly reduce travel times compared to current connecting routes.
