NASA Aircraft to Make Low-Altitude Research Flights Over Colorado

The FarmFlux mission, spearheaded by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, aims to investigate agricultural emissions as a significant yet largely unexplored component of global environmental systems. More than a dozen sensors will be deployed across Colorado to meticulously track key atmospheric pollutants including ozone, methane, ammonia, and particulate matter. These measurements will focus on understanding how these substances originate from agricultural lands and animal operations before interacting with the surrounding environment. Data collection will concentrate on low-altitude research flights conducted by specialized aircraft over Colorado’s landscape. The ultimate goal is to quantify the impact of agricultural activities on air quality and broader climate patterns.
