NEWBORN fuel cell powertrain takes first steps as Honeywell Aerospace eyes future flight tests

A Clean Aviation-funded 1MW-class demonstrator, operational since August, is undergoing preparations for subsequent trials of a full integrated propulsion system. Honeywell Aerospace is actively considering the potential to fly a newly developed 1MW fuel cell powertrain created through an EU Clean Aviation project. Initial ground runs are scheduled for this powertrain, marking its first operational phase. The project aims to assess the capabilities and performance characteristics of the innovative fuel cell technology. This development represents a significant step towards exploring sustainable aviation solutions with reduced carbon emissions.
