NASA asks industry for ideas about saving Hubble Space Telescope

NASA has initiated a solicitation seeking innovative solutions to combat the effects of atmospheric drag impacting the Hubble Space Telescope. The venerable observatory, currently operating nominally, is experiencing a gradual descent towards Earth due to this persistent force. NASA’s primary goal involves exploring strategies to prolong Hubble’s operational lifespan and maximize its scientific output. Industry partners are invited to submit proposals detailing potential methods for mitigating or reversing the telescope’s trajectory. This effort represents a critical step in ensuring continued data collection from one of humanity’s most successful space-based observatories.
