Longer lead times prompt ATR to lean on lessors

ATR is experiencing a significant shift in its order fulfillment process due to persistently long lead times for new aircraft orders. Alexis Vidal, senior vice-president, commercial at the regional turboprop manufacturer, attributes this situation to the increasing involvement of lessors within the company’s existing backlog. Specifically, the presence of lessors provides ATR with a strategic advantage given these extended delivery timelines. Currently, the manufacturer has seen orders outstrip deliveries for the past three years. This reliance on leasing arrangements allows ATR to manage demand effectively while awaiting production capacity increases.
