India kicks off process to acquire new Dhruv helicopters, upgrade fighters

India has initiated a significant procurement effort within its defense sector, signaling the potential near completion of the Su-30MKI fighter aircraft upgrades. The Defence Acquisition Council authorized an Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) valued at INR1.1 trillion ($12.1 billion). This substantial investment will focus initially on acquiring new Dhruv helicopters and upgrading existing fighter aircraft. These acquisitions represent a key component of India’s ongoing modernization program designed to bolster its air force capabilities. The approvals pave the way for further procurements aimed at strengthening national security priorities.
