Icelandair mechanics threaten ‘indefinite’ strike

Negotiations regarding a new wage agreement between Icelandair and its mechanics concluded unfavourably in June, prompting the Icelandic Aircraft Mechanics Association (FVFI) to announce an impending indefinite strike. The FVFI intends to initiate this strike later this month should no resolution be found concerning a revised collective bargaining agreement. A state mediator was previously involved in attempts to facilitate a compromise following the breakdown of talks. This potential action poses significant disruption risks for Icelandair’s operations. Union representatives are currently seeking improved compensation packages for their members within the framework of the ongoing negotiations.
