France orders Thundart long-range rocket system from MBDA, Safran

The French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) has awarded a contract to MBDA and Safran Electronics & Defense for the development of the Thundart long-range rocket system. This acquisition is intended to replace the Lance Lru missile system currently utilized by France. The initial order encompasses the full system, including launchers and associated equipment. MBDA will be responsible for the overall design and integration of the Thundart, while Safran Electronics & Defense will contribute key components. Deliveries are expected to commence in 2027 following completion of the program’s phases.
