Finland’s first F-35 delivery leaves one jet stranded in the Azores

A single F-35A Lightning II fighter from Finland's inaugural delivery of three aircraft experienced a critical issue during its transatlantic journey to Lithuania. The incident occurred while the jets were transiting through the airspace of the Azores, an archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean. Avionics failure led to the grounding of one of the fighters near Horta Airport on Faial Island. Finnish technicians are currently working with Lockheed Martin engineers to diagnose and repair the affected jet. This delay represents a significant setback for Finland’s planned integration of the advanced fifth-generation fighter into its Air Force.
