FAA exempts 35 Boeing 777Fs from 2028 emissions rule

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted a waiver allowing the sale of 35 Boeing 777 Freighters beyond the 2028 emissions rules deadline. This decision was requested by Boeing to continue production of its 777 Freighter models until the introduction of the 777-8F aircraft. The FAA’s approval, issued on September 15th, specifically addresses the ongoing production of existing 777 Freighters. These exemptions permit continued sales and operation of these aircraft after January 1, 2028, when new emission standards come into effect for all commercial airplanes. Boeing will be able to maintain output of this freighter model while awaiting the launch of their next generation aircraft.
