Does ATC Know When Your Altimeter Is Set Incorrectly?

Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) play a crucial role in ensuring aircraft maintain safe altitudes during flight operations. Transponders onboard aircraft transmit information to ATC, including their current altitude setting. However, this setting can be incorrect, leading to potential conflicts if not identified. Pressure altitude, measured by instruments within the aircraft, provides another reference point for determining an aircraft’s position relative to sea level.
