China’s S4000 airborne wind turbine passes 13,123-foot altitude test

China's upgraded S4000 Stratosphere Airborne Wind Energy System (SAWES), designated as the S4000, successfully completed a full-process flight test recently. The system achieved an operational altitude of 13,123 feet during this comprehensive trial. This marks a significant milestone in the development and deployment of SAWES technology. The tests were conducted to evaluate the performance capabilities of the turbine at high altitudes. Representatives from AeroTime reported that the results demonstrate the potential for airborne wind energy generation.
