Appendicitis Believed To Be Cause Of Delta Air Lines Pilot’s Emergency Diversion To Detroit

Delta Air Lines pilot experienced an emergency diversion to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) on July 8, 2024. Medical personnel were prioritized at the airport to provide immediate care for the pilot. Authorities believe appendicitis is the cause of the pilot's condition. The aircraft involved in the incident, a Boeing 757-200, first entered service in 1997. Following the diversion, the 757 has continued its operational schedule.
