US Navy seeking new long-range air-launched torpedo dubbed ‘Silent Anvil’

The U.S. Navy is actively pursuing the development of a new, long-range air-launched torpedo designated “Silent Anvil.” This anti-submarine weapon will be designed for captive carry and release from either internal or external aircraft weapons stations. A request for information (RFI) regarding this project was released by US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) on August 25th. The initiative aims to enhance the Navy’s capabilities against submarine threats utilizing advanced missile technology.
