The US Coast Guard has initiated a $3 billion recapitalization of its aviation fleet through significant aircraft acquisitions, marking the service’s introduction to large uncrewed platforms. Specifically, the USCG placed an order on October 9th with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems for four MQ-9B remotely piloted UAVs. These MQ-9Bs represent the first large uncrewed platform within the Coast Guard's inventory. Simultaneously, the acquisition includes six C-130Js, bolstering the existing capabilities of the Coast Guard’s air assets.
