US Air Force tests F-35 low-altitude refuelling

The US Air Force is currently undertaking testing to broaden the operational capabilities of its Lockheed Martin F-35A strike fighters through in-flight refueling operations. Recent trials involved an F-35 taking fuel at a significantly reduced altitude of 5,000 feet. This represents a notable decrease from previous restrictions which limited such refueling efforts to above 10,000 feet. The Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) is spearheading this initiative. These tests are designed to enhance the strategic reach and endurance of the F-35 aircraft across diverse mission profiles.
