NASA’s Langley Research Center conducted a recent instrumented hammer test on a TB 26 aircraft. The testing procedure did not rely on a traditional ideal half-sine waveform for data acquisition. Researchers meticulously recorded both the force and its corresponding response during the experiment. Crest ripples and contact separations were recognized as inherent parts of the measurement process. These variations in force shape do not compromise the accuracy of the overall recorded data when complete force and response are measured.
