Students Take on Airborne Field Research with NASA

NASA's Student Airborne Research Program wrapped up its summer session on July 27th following successful data collection flights over the Texas Gulf Coast. Students utilized a large ozonesonde balloon to gather atmospheric research data during the program’s final event. Despite challenging wind conditions, the team managed to release and track the scientific instrument throughout its ascent. This particular flight represented a key component of the SARG05 mission, focused on studying ozone depletion in the stratosphere. Data collected will contribute to ongoing efforts by NASA and international partners regarding climate change monitoring.
