The aircraft was traveling from New York’s John F Kennedy Airport (JFK) to Ponta Delgada in the Azores when the incident occurred. Passengers were safely landed at Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport (PDL) in São Miguel Island, Azores. Authorities are currently investigating the source of the mysterious smell that prompted the emergency landing. A replacement Airbus A321-200 is scheduled to depart from JFK and transport the passengers to their final destination.
