Spain picks Airbus A321 for future SIGINT spy plane fleet

The Spanish Air and Space Force will utilize the Airbus A321 aircraft to develop a new, dedicated fleet for signals intelligence (SIGINT) operations. This selection was finalized following an evaluation process conducted by the service branch. The initial focus of this program is centered at Santiago II air base in Spain. Airbus has been contracted to modify the A321 specifically tailored to meet the demanding requirements of SIGINT missions. Ultimately, the Spanish military anticipates deploying these modified aircraft across various operational environments within Europe.
