Scientists may have finally solved the mystery of the sun's missing silver

Recent research indicates that scientists now believe the Sun possesses approximately 1.4 grams of silver, representing an increase in previously estimated quantities. This discovery stems from observations made by the Parker Solar Probe during its close approaches to the solar corona between March and November 2021. The probe’s instruments detected elevated levels of silver atoms within this extremely hot region of the Sun. Scientists theorize that these silver ions are likely formed through complex processes involving high-energy particles impacting the solar atmosphere. Further study is planned to fully understand the origin and behavior of this unexpected abundance of silver on our star.
