Safran, Aura Aero advance ERA hybrid propulsion

Safran Helicopter Engines and Aura Aero have formalized a development and integration agreement specifically for the hybrid-electric propulsion system of the ERA regional aircraft program. This collaboration centers around integrating Safran’s TG600 turbogenerators into the 19-seat prototype, representing a crucial advancement toward achieving the programme's initial flight test and certification milestones. The memorandum of understanding previously established between the two companies has now transitioned to this concrete development phase. Experts anticipate that this integrated system will significantly contribute to reducing emissions from regional air travel. Ultimately, the project aims to demonstrate the viability of sustainable aviation technologies within the European market.
