SAF supply to EU airports exceeded mandatory threshold in first full year of regulation

European Union airport sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply demonstrated substantial growth during its inaugural year under regulatory mandates. Nearly 2.8% of the total fuel volume, equating to approximately 1.1 million tonnes (Mt), comprised SAF delivered to European airports in 2025. This represents a significant increase from the initial 2% minimum requirement established by EASA. The overall fuel quantity dispensed across EU airports reached 39.3 Mt for the same period. Reporting compliance improved markedly among both suppliers and aircraft operators, marking an important step toward wider adoption of sustainable fuels within the aviation sector.
