United Engine has commenced the serial delivery of Aviadvigatel PD-8 powerplants to the Yakovlev SJ-100 program, following approval secured in June. Ilya Konyukhov, Saturn division chief, confirmed that two initial PD-8 engines have been transferred to the Superjet 100 variant. The SJ-100 is designed as an import-substituted version of the existing Superjet 100 aircraft. Currently, the engine remains awaiting certification despite having received its approvals. This development represents a key step in Russia’s efforts to localize critical aerospace components.
