Romanian F-16 shoot down drone in country’s airspace, Italian Eurofighters join

President Nicușor Dan announced that an F-16 aircraft from the Romanian Air Force successfully intercepted and neutralized a drone operating within Romania's national airspace. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 3rd, marking the first time a hostile aerial object has been taken down over the nation. Subsequently, two Italian Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets were deployed to assist with monitoring the situation in Romanian airspace. These Italian assets provided additional surveillance capabilities during the operation. Authorities are currently investigating the origin and purpose of the drone detected near Romania’s borders.
