NASA’s Roman Telescope to Carry 1.35 Million Names to Deep Space

NASA completed the installation of a specialized memory card aboard the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope at Kennedy Space Center on July 27th. This card holds 1,350,144 names collected worldwide through an open call for submissions. Individuals representing diverse backgrounds participated, encompassing those involved in NASA’s Artemis missions like astronauts preparing for Artemis II and Artemis III. The commemorative plaque, incorporating this memory card, is designed to launch alongside the Roman observatory into deep space. This initiative represents a global effort to honor human exploration and scientific discovery with participation from both current and future astronaut programs.
