NASA's canceled lunar space station tech will help build the Artemis moon base

Northrop Grumman intends to utilize technologies originally designed for NASA’s cancelled International Linear Environment Outpost (ILEO) project, more commonly known as the HALO module. The company aims to adapt this existing hardware to support the construction of the Artemis III mission’s initial lunar outpost. Specifically, the HALO module contained advanced systems for radiation protection and power generation crucial for long-duration missions in deep space. This reuse represents a significant cost saving for NASA, streamlining the development process for the upcoming lunar operations. Northrop Grumman's involvement is expected to accelerate progress toward establishing a sustainable human presence on the Moon.
