NASA Challenge Tests Wheel Designs for Moon Base Mobility

NASA’s Rock and Roll with NASA Challenge aimed to develop innovative wheel designs crucial for enhancing mobility at the upcoming Moon Base. The challenge received 128 submissions from 49 nations, demonstrating a global interest in supporting this critical aspect of lunar exploration. Five teams progressed to the final stage after reviewing initial entries. These teams were tasked with designing and constructing next-generation lunar rover wheels specifically tailored for increased surface travel capabilities. This initiative directly supports NASA's broader goals of facilitating crew and robotic system movement across the challenging lunar terrain.
