NASA Advances LISA Mission Contributions With New Test Telescope

NASA is progressing its development efforts for the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission, an ambitious project focused on detecting gravitational waves. L3Harris Technologies has been contracted to design, assemble, and integrate a key component of the LISA observatory – an engineering test unit. This newly developed telescope utilizes all-glass construction to maximize sensitivity in observing these subtle distortions in spacetime. The Engineering Test Unit will undergo rigorous testing before being incorporated into the final LISA spacecraft. NASA anticipates this advancement significantly contributes to the overall success of the groundbreaking space observatory’s scientific objectives.
