Leonardo building first Astore Levante UAVs for Italian air force

The Leonardo-Baykar Technologies joint venture has commenced production of the TB3-derived Astore Levante uncrewed aerial vehicles specifically designed for the Italian air force. These new UAVs represent the initial output from a joint venture between LBA Systems and Baykar Technologies, utilizing a TB3 platform as their foundation. According to Leonardo chief executive Lorenzo Mariaini, the first two or three Astore Levante UAVs are currently under construction. This milestone signifies the full operational status of the joint venture, marking an important step in modernizing Italy’s airborne capabilities. The Italian Air Force will receive these advanced unmanned systems, enhancing its surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
