A Boeing F-15J fighter jet operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) suffered a landing gear collapse while attempting to land on August 18th in Okinawa, Japan. The incident occurred at Naha airport, which services commercial traffic on the island prefecture. Runway one was temporarily closed as a result of the crash. Photographic evidence shows the left side of the aircraft experienced the landing gear failure during touchdown. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of this significant aviation event.
