Ireland’s new air surveillance radar identified as Thales GM400 Alpha

Thales confirmed it will deliver its Ground Master 400 Alpha (GM400α) long-range radar to bolster Ireland's air defense capabilities. The contract represents a significant upgrade for the nation’s existing surveillance infrastructure, enhancing its ability to monitor airspace effectively. This advanced radar system is designed to provide extended range detection and tracking of aircraft. Specifically, the GM400α offers enhanced performance compared to previous systems utilized by Ireland. Thales anticipates commencing delivery of the radar within the next few months, marking a key investment in Irish security.
