However, due to various factors including high operating costs and limited operational needs, the aircraft have flown only approximately 75 missions since their acquisition. Maintenance expenses alone accounted for a significant portion of the total investment, exceeding initial projections substantially. The DHS has not utilized all of the fleet’s capabilities, leading to considerable financial strain on taxpayer dollars.
