HAL to boost AL-31FP engine production at Koraput

Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) is accelerating the production of Saturn AL-31FP engines, fulfilling a significant order for 240 units intended to power Indian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft. This expansion in manufacturing follows a 2024 contract and represents a substantial increase from previous output levels. HAL has already delivered 63 engines by the end of the second year, demonstrating an advancement beyond its initial delivery schedule. The increased engine production will bolster the capabilities of India’s existing fleet of Su-30MKIs. Operations are currently taking place at the Koraput facility within HAL.
