HAL, Safran sign Aravalli helicopter engine contract

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran Helicopter Engines finalized a contract through their joint venture, SAFHAL Helicopter Engines Pvt. Ltd., for the development of a new helicopter engine dubbed ‘Aravalli.’ This engine is specifically designed to operate within the 3,500–4,000 shp power class range. The Aravalli engine will be utilized to power HAL’s upcoming 13-tonne Indian Multi-Role helicopters. The agreement encompasses design, manufacture, supply, and ongoing lifecycle support services for this advanced propulsion system. This collaboration represents a significant step in bolstering India's indigenous aerospace capabilities.
