Etna ash disrupts Catania flights, forcing diversions and cancelations

Mount Etna’s renewed volcanic activity is causing significant disruption to air traffic operations across Sicily. Catania Airport (CTA) has been forced to suspend flight operations due to the presence of substantial ash clouds emanating from the volcano. As of today, November 3rd, numerous flights have been diverted to alternative airports, primarily Palermo Airport (PMO), as a precautionary measure. Several flights originating from or destined for Catania have also been canceled entirely, impacting passenger travel plans. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and anticipate continued disruptions until Mount Etna's activity stabilizes.
