Deutsche Aircraft goes back to future as it inaugurates Leipzig final assembly line

Deutsche Aircraft has commenced operations at its new final assembly line in Leipzig, Germany, marking a significant step towards serial production of the D328eco aircraft. This factory transition follows decades of development and represents a revival of German aviation ambitions rooted in the legacy of previous designs. Sixty-five years prior, the VEB Flugzeugwerke Baade 152 project, an East German airliner concept, ceased following a tragic prototype accident. The current endeavor builds upon the history of Fairchild Dornier’s 728, continuing Germany's commitment to domestic commercial aircraft manufacturing. Sierra Nevada Corporation owns the airframer overseeing this ambitious return to producing passenger planes.
