Canada's Biggest Airport Is Running 2 Multi-Billion Construction Programs At Once To Avoid Shutting Down

Toronto Pearson International Airport is currently undertaking two major construction programs totaling an estimated $4.5 billion. These initiatives aim to bolster the airport’s capacity and operational efficiency, addressing anticipated increases in passenger traffic over the next several years. The first project involves a redevelopment of Terminal 3, slated for completion by late 2026, which will increase its footprint by approximately 178,000 square feet. Simultaneously, a second program focuses on upgrading baggage handling systems across multiple terminals, expected to be finished by 2029.
