Canada deploys Textron Aerosonde on Arctic patrol ship ahead of S-100 sea trials

The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) has conducted a pioneering deployment, utilizing a Textron Aerosonde beyond-visual-line-of-sight unmanned aircraft system aboard the HMCS Max Bernays offshore patrol vessel. This marks the initial operational integration of a long-range UAS by the RCN within the challenging environment of the High North. The deployment supports preparations for upcoming S-100 sea trials currently scheduled to take place. Ottawa facilitated this strategic move as part of ongoing efforts to enhance maritime surveillance and security capabilities in Canada’s northern waters. Data collected during these operations will contribute directly to the evaluation process for the S-100 vessels.
