Airbus converts former A380 wing facility to A321 line in push to rate 75

Airbus is investing more than $200 million (£150 million) to transform its Broughton, Wales, facility previously dedicated to A380 wing production into a manufacturing line for the Airbus A321 aircraft. This strategic shift aims to achieve Airframe Rating 75 for the A321, signifying operational readiness and certification. The conversion project represents a significant investment by Airbus in expanding its capabilities within the narrow-body market segment. Approximately 400 jobs will be created as part of this initiative at the Broughton site. Airbus anticipates completing the transformation by early 2024, marking a key step in their long-term growth strategy.
