AI Comes to the Cockpit

Blackbird Technologies, Inc., Garmin International, and Honeywell have announced plans to integrate artificial intelligence into aircraft systems for use in general aviation settings. Blackbird Technologies is developing an AI assistant called ‘Pilot’ designed to provide pilots with real-time flight planning assistance and situational awareness. Garmin International has unveiled its FlightActive™ system which uses AI to monitor pilot fatigue and alert them to potential risks. Honeywell is working on a suite of AI solutions focused on enhancing cockpit automation and reducing pilot workload during various phases of flight. These developments represent significant steps toward incorporating advanced technology within the broader general aviation landscape, aiming to improve safety and operational efficiency.
