Africa’s airliner fleet set to more than double by 2045

Passenger traffic across Africa is projected to experience robust growth, increasing by approximately 6% annually through 2045 – a rate among the highest globally. This expansion will be fueled primarily by factors including Africa's youthful population, rising urbanization trends, and an expanding middle class. Consequently, demand for air travel is expected to surge significantly within the region. Boeing forecasts a substantial increase in the commercial airplane fleet, anticipating it will more than double from its current level of 755 aircraft to reach 1,625 over the next two decades. These projections highlight the considerable investment anticipated in aviation infrastructure to support this accelerated passenger volume.
